  •   The decor and themes in this hotel are truly outstanding. Not enough vegetarian options but food is exquisitely presented and cooked to perfection. We stayed in the Cheshire Cat suite which was a good sized room with pleasing decor. Unfortunately both windows looked out onto a roof so we had no view! (Given that we were the only guests staying at the hotel and so many vacant rooms , I am surprised we were not given a room with a view. The bathroom had twin showers but despite following exact instructions in the room manual, we could not get any hot water from the left hand shower and from the right hand shower adjustment so that water was not too cold or too hot was virtually impossible. We could not log onto the hotel Wi-fi. The hotel guest setting would not “lock in” preferring instead to default to “staff” setting for which we had no password. Fortunately there was an iPad in the room from which we could access emails via web mail. The wardrobe has essentially been given over to a mini bar, coffee making,an ironing board, iron and suitcase stand. Very little hanging space and nowhere to place underwear , folded shirts and jumpers. The service was of the highest standard and the helpfulness of the staff deserves special recognition. There was complimentary wine beer and chocolates in the room which was an added bonus. A pity there... The decor and themes in this hotel are truly outstanding. Our room appears to have been above or adjacent/above the hotel kitchen. As this is an older building , there was considerable noise from staff working, when in use. More

  •   Lovely quirky interior to this hotel. Beautiful garden and surrounding walks through the woods. Fantastically stocked bar with a vastly knowledgable mixologist who was friendly, chatty and interesting. Mixed great drinks too!
Comfortable beds and beautifully appointed rooms. Good service and food.
    All in all a lovleybreak.

  •   We visited for an early mother’s day treat for afternoon tea, we were all so impressed. The hotel is beautiful and has been renovated in recent years to a very high standard. The afternoon tea was delicious, sandwiches, scones , and amazing cakes! Great service

  •   We ‘only’ visited for a Sunday lunch but the staff could not have been more helpful or obliging. The owner also made us very welcome and our lunch was everything that it should be.
The location, grounds, restaurant and decor are just lovely.
    Well worth a return visit.

  •   Wow, what a stunning little hidden gem this hotel is - nestled in the countryside in Devon, beautiful inside and out, very quirky decor based on Alice in Wonderland the attention to detail is fantastic. We stayed in ‘white rabbit’ room which was superb, really comfy bed and beautiful room and bathroom with a huge selection of complimentary extras. We had the 8 course taster menu with wine pairing which was lovely - would happily recommend the restaurant. The staff were all really lovely in particular Chloe the manageress who couldn’t do enough for us and was really warm and welcoming and friendly and the absolute star for us Shamy the bar manager and sommelier, such a lovely guy and so knowledgeable - we absolutely loved our stay here and will definitely go back but next time we’ll stay longer!
